At the frontier between art and fashion, the young Canadian photographer places fiction and self-portraiture in a backdrop of tension and mystery. Winner in 2008 of the Picto prize for young photographers and in 2007 for the young fashion photographers prize, Kourtney Roy captures the surreal aspects of life found in the everyday. Roy transcends the prosaic situations and enshrouds what she finds there in a dreamlike, acidic light.
