Born in Vancouver in 1976, the photographer Karin Bubas is inspired in the same way as a filmmaker of scenes that evoke mystery, from undiscerning, unassuming, interiors to bountiful landscapes. Bubas explores the multitude of ways in which images can tell a story. The deliberate decision to avoid giving an ending to her stories is intended to capture the viewer’s imagination and the liberty to take its own course. She moves, without difficulty, from one mythical world to the next shedding a contemporary and inquisitive light on these images. Regularly on display in some of the best Canadian galleries, Karin Bubas has also had exhibitions both in the US and Europe (Belgian).
