Into the wild Solitary walker, the young German photographer lives and breathes the landscapes that he captures with his lens. Often he will place his tent somewhere in the mountains to contemplate nature and the surrounding silence. This patient approach towards his photography allows Schlegal the time to observe changes in the atmosphere - as the mist carves out the shadow of a solitary tree, the twilight enshrouds the sheer rock face in an ethereal blue. Drawing inspiration from images of Michael Kenna or of Josef Hoflehner, Schlegal is his own inspired poet of landscape photography, he surveys the melencholic free will of nature as an impressionist of modern times.
