Master of the perfect image, at home in the world of advertising and the web of dreams it weaves, the Finish photographer Markku Lahdesmaki is equally adept at capturing his own creativity. Lahdesmaki applies saturated colours, orchestrates meticulous composition and distorted angles to his images. At his home in Tampere, under the tropical Californian sun, in amusement parks or the Chinese cultural museum, he captures characters in a split second, static frames, an unsettling compilation of states. He allows them to linger, float in the atmosphere unaffected by time, stuck there to the point of absurdity they hover between being funny and ironic. In 2008, Markku Lahdesmaki participated in the Annual Communication Arts Photography Awards.
