The English photographer, Victoria Hall, first became known for her picture-perfect self-portraits. Inspired by the great masters of paintings from the 16th and 20th century, she successfully combines traditional techniques while adding elements of humour, sophistication and modernity. From the setting to costumes, her photographs have the same incandescent substance that Raphael or Gainsborough had in their time. Her photo-paintings are the same size as the original canvases. Depicted as the central character, Hall reflects in a buoyant and nevertheless profound manner on our relationship to history and the female form.
