The Chinese photographer Jiaxin, currently living in New York, is one of the recent discoveries to emerge from the photography festivals in China. Born in 1977, he is part of a generation of photographers who have broken away from traditional landscape images to explore the conceptualisation of the urban landscape through the elements of humanity encompassed within it. As citizen of the world and boundless pioneer of urban culture, Jiaxin explores his own identity and era through work that includes night-time images taken in the Shanghai underground to the streets of Time Square, and self portraiture.
