Despite his extractive intent-- a point of view which alienates figures and landscape from their usual context-- a feeling of calm inhabits Christopher Sturman's images. The disappearance of factual elements consequently creates a very pictorial play of zooms on the subject. Sturman chooses his models instinctively. He feeds his esthetic sense with his constant passion for painting. Irregardless of any concept, his ambition is satisfied to remain introspective and private: he does not pretend to deliver a message, but rather prefers to leave as much freedom as possible for the viewer's feelings.
