Philippe Schlienger, who is eclectic with happiness, is driven by meetings, chance, and by a perpetual availability to beings, to places and to objects charged with memory. He is attracted by texture, material, the man at work or symbolism of bodies ; he photographs « by following his nose » and he is ready for all « manipulations » in order to express in his images what his models inspire him. " I came to light by the means of darkness ", explains the former user of camera obscura, who likes returning under the red lights of the developing rooms with their " foetal atmosphere ". To him, viewing is a stage. It can’t be separated from the hand-to-hand with substance and shadows, which takes place in the secret of the camera obscura.
