From portraits to still-life, Maud Chazeau likes to present visual contrasts played out in the context of urban landscapes. Unmasked faces, framed with detachment and sincerity, possess a dream-like quality inspired by Chazeau’s fascination for fairy tales and the unpredictable. As a nonchalant passer-by, accompanied by her camera box Holga, she skilfully uses the haze of colour to capture moving street scenes, windows displays and abandoned objects, effectively blurring the urban landmarks until all notion of time is lost.
