Martinelli’s fascination with light evokes emotions that he conjures into reality through his photographic work. Advertising, beauty shots, still life; it is as much the studio setting as the outdoors which provide the backdrop for his brief encounters. His personal work draws inspiration from Albrecht Dürer’s botanical gardens, and the intricacies of Japanese paintings to compose a musical photographic variation where the grass seemingly possessed by magic performs an ethereal dance. Subjects, objects and landscapes are also a source a continuing source of inspiration, he explores the tiniest detail to reveal the growth as it unfolds.
