The inspiration for this series came from an extensive exploration into the strip clubs clustered in Tokyo’s red light district. Daoust captures enticing shadows in their moments of grace, giving them an ethereal beauty. Fascinated by these exiled women, who become animated under the harsh lights of private members clubs, it’s almost as if Daoust wants to stop them just for a moment, mid-dance, to ask them about the fantastical world that they endeavour to create.
