Markku Lahdesmaki plays on the ambiguity of amusement parks and museums in their recreation of reality to the point of abstraction. Lahdesmaki conjures up mystical scenes through a distortion in scale. Buildings, beings and objects meet and merge into infinity, from desert landscapes to the controlled dimensions of a room recreated. The extreme attention to detail makes these images no less enchanting; an open invitation into an abstract world where nothing is quite as it seems.
