Along the length of a table, the horizon held firm, Iris Velghe’s compositions of objects and fruit exude light from every pore of their being. To bring out a sense of soul, Velghe takes on the role of a narrator provoking small scenarios that breathe life into her subjects. A pack of playing cards fall, the wind turns the pages of book, an egg spreads out; the contrast of light and dark portrayed works at many levels revealing much, but without losing a profound sense of mystery.
