Michiru Nakayama focuses her lens to observe the studious discipline of dancers, judoka and gymnasts. She captures with precision their marked concentration in holding a position and defining the surrounding space. Reminiscent of Degas, the serenity she exposes in the group scenes merges seamlessly with the conflict and determination expressed by the human body. Like a cocoon, far removed from the urban chaos, the individuals dissolve into uniforms and trained bodies, every muscle strained.
