My little America
Height and a loss of scale: my little America tells of the particular preoccupation that Partick Messsina has with New York. The perpetual question; “what is big or small?” provides the starting point and the ostensible reason behind all deconstructions, photography makes people miniscule in the midst of the oversized urban landscape. It is as if, there lies behind this façade, an invisible force moving the pawns across the chess board. Beyond this formal game and aesthetic, a childhood magic dispersed over these cities sketches out a metaphysical world, the prayer-book of a transient photographer.
