“Demonstrations, accusations, quotations, slogans and loud-speakers: memories of a childhood enveloped in unrest, confusion and an undefined terror. Continual reminders for a class struggle unabating. President Mao, the red sun of our heart! I remember there was a saying “Think of Peking, look towards Peking, think of the great saviour night and day, dream of President Mao and laughter of joy will burst forth” I can’t judge this period. But it has left enduring marks in my memory. My son is a product of this, it’s like singing a song that you like form long ago, rediscovering a part of your life that forever will remain close to your heart”.
