Observing the peregrinations of pedestrians and city dwellers, Catherine Gfeller likes to be directed, in part, by her unconscious. Back in her atelier, she lets herself respond freely and instinctively to the images of meetings, reliving moments past, highlighting the silhouetted characters. This series of single shots is reminiscent of elements of Italy and Paris, intertwined with “unconscious inspiration” captured in an instant.
