TABLEAUX DU CIEL
Fleeting wings

The natural art of the butterfly. A fascination for moths developed during Yann Layma’s early childhood, and remains for him a source of inspiration. On his return from China, Layma conceptualised a photographic process which allowed him to capture the beautiful of the wings of a butterfly at very close proximity. Enhanced by the precision of macro-photography, he is able to reveal a cascade of colours. Iridescent, gleaming, on the point of bursting, it is a transfusion of textures; fur, feathers and silk. Colias from Europe, Loepa Oberthuri from Chine, Agrias Sardanapalus from the Amazon or Parnassius Apollo from Italy: a kaleidoscopic dance fixed on canvas yet vibrating with intensity.
