The French magician Henri Robin and a ghost photographed by Eugène Thiébault.
In his theatre on the Boulevard du Temple in Paris, the infamous magician Henri Robin appeared in his conjuring act apparently performing alongside ghosts and spectres. He had a series of photographs taken, to promote his show, from which this one has been selected. By exploiting the effect of double exposure Eugène Thiebault was able to create the stunning impression of ghostly apparitions. This photograph was displayed as part of the exhibition Le Troisième œil. La photographie et l’occulte in Paris and New York in 2004.
