The “Roche Béranger” close to the garden in the Chamonix valley photographed by Adolphe Braun.
This series of mountain ranges photographed by Adolphe Braun was largely taken in the Swiss and French Alps. To do justice to the majestic scenery that he photographed, Braun often made use of panoramic formatting which allowed him capture, with one glance, the extent of the alpine ranges. Weighed down with heavy equipment one can only imagine the technical and physical feat that Braun had to overcome in order to achieve these exceptional images which are among the earliest photographic recordings made of this kind of climate.
